We have been on quite the journey this past year. I shared a little last month of the changes my husband and I have experienced with the calling God gave us in our move from New York to Florida. 2026 is unfolding in front of us and already it is February!
What have we been doing?
I am glad you asked! Well, we
found a local church and started the process of waiting on God for our next
steps. I have found that the best thing
to do when waiting on God is to get into His word and plug into a church community. That is what we did. We joined a church community group that does
life together and reviews the sermon from the previous Sunday. There is something about breaking break and
feeding your soul that brings peace while waiting. I also joined a women’s disciple group to
take my walk deeper while I waited on the Lord.
The closer I am to my Lord, the easier it is to wait on His will. We also started Biblical Counseling Training
together. Stepping into the deep end
after prayer…
I also started writing again. Stones of Remembrance.
I wanted to recall what God has done with and for us as a
couple. Often, we get so busy with everyday
activities that we forget the miracles that occur in our lives. There have been so many blessings over the
past year I didn’t want to forget any of them.
The beautiful thing about writing down what God has done in your life is
you can go back to the journals and relive the moments. That is why in the Old Testament you saw the Israelites
stack stones on each other when God did something for them as a memorial. This was a sign to remind them of God’s power,
faithfulness, and miraculous intervention.
…to not forget what God did in my life.
…to educate others what God did in my life.
…to mark a moment in history.
…to testify God’s Power.
Stones of Remembrance.
We are human and tend to forget things in our lives, even
the big things. Life distracts us and
even the big moments in our lives dull after time. When we journal these moments, we are forced
to relive them and not forget what God did.
I want to remember ALL the miracles God did in us and
for us this past year as we followed His path for us.
The quarters in the couch…
The help from all corners of our church family…
The house that appeared out of thin air for us… (a future
story)
There are so many more. I don’t want to forget these miracles in my
life. When I write them down and share
these stories with you, I bring them back to life. God is given All the Glory!
I challenge you to start your own journal of stones of remembrance…
If you can’t think of anything, start small. Start by
writing what you are thankful for today.
Life… Health… 4 walls… electricity… food… start simple and
work your way out.
Starting a thankful list will change you. Trust me in this. Then change the thankful list into a deeper
list of what God has done when you see it occur.
Someone smiled at you today… (yes that is a God thing
😊)
Your groceries went farther than expected this week…
You got a raise…
You got this! I am praying
for you!
Love you!
Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and
Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far the Lord has helped us.”
1 Samuel 7:12
1 When the whole nation had finished crossing the Jordan,
the Lord said to Joshua, 2 “Choose twelve men from among the people, one from
each tribe, 3 and tell them to take up twelve stones from the middle of the
Jordan, from right where the priests are standing, and carry them over with you
and put them down at the place where you stay tonight.” 4 So Joshua called
together the twelve men he had appointed from the Israelites, one from each
tribe, 5 and said to them, “Go over before the ark of the Lord your God into
the middle of the Jordan. Each of you is to take up a stone on his shoulder,
according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, 6 to serve as a sign
among you. In the future, when your children ask you, ‘What do these stones
mean?’ 7 tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of
the covenant of the Lord. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan
were cut off. These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel
forever.”
Joshua 4:1-7
10 Jacob left
Beersheba and set out for Harran. 11 When he reached a certain place, he
stopped for the night because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones there,
he put it under his head and lay down to sleep. 12 He had a dream in which he
saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the
angels of God were ascending and descending on it. 13There above it stood the
Lord, and he said: “I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God
of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying.
14 Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out
to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south. All peoples on
earth will be blessed through you and your offspring. 15 I am with you and will
watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will
not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” 16 When Jacob awoke
from his sleep, he thought, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not
aware of it.” 17 He was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is
none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven.” 18 Early the
next morning Jacob took the stone he had placed under his head and set it up as
a pillar and poured oil on top of it. 19 He called that place Bethel, though
the city used to be called Luz. 20 Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will
be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me
food to eat and clothes to wear 21 so that I return safely to my father’s
household, then the Lord will be my God 22 and this stone that I have set up as
a pillar will be God’s house, and of all that you give me I will give you a
tenth.”'
